Nrep and Åke Sundvall announce JV to deliver hundreds of new homes in Stockholm

April 23, 2025

Real estate investor Nrep has announced a new long-term partnership with residential developer Åke Sundvall to deliver attractive, sustainable apartments and later living accommodation in some of Stockholm’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. The new JV aims to incrementally build a portfolio of circa 500-800 new homes. Nrep’s investment is being made via their latest fund within the Nordic Strategies Fund series.

With a shared focus on quality, deep local roots, and strong financial resources, Nrep and Åke Sundvall aim to play a key role in the future urban development of Stockholm. The collaboration aims to meet the growing need for both housing and care environments – while creating vibrant urban spaces that combine sustainability, architectural quality, and long-term value creation.

The initiative begins with the project Hemsamariten, a senior living facility in Råcksta, where construction is planned to start in 2026. The JV structure also includes several other projects in central and expanding parts of Stockholm, and the parties are actively working to grow the portfolio with new development rights.

Carl-Adam von Schéele, Country Manager for Nrep, said: “Together with Åke Sundvall, we are creating a strong partnership that combines local expertise, execution power, and a clear focus on sustainability. The collaboration ensures the implementation of attractive projects with high architectural quality, while also opening up new opportunities to expand the portfolio with additional projects.”

With Åke Sundvall’s strong presence in the Stockholm region and Nrep’s proven ability to drive long-term sustainable and value-creating projects, the foundation is laid for a powerful and forward-thinking residential provider to boost city’s ongoing development.

Martin Sundvall, CEO of Åke Sundvall, said: “In partnership with Nrep, we have established a secure and long-term relationship based on mutual respect, clear action, and a shared ambition to contribute to a more beautiful and sustainable Stockholm. Together, we create conditions for developing neighbourhoods where people and businesses thrive and evolve – in line with our vision to shape the city’s most beloved areas.”

The projects will be designed in collaboration with both Swedish and internationally renowned architects. All housing units and senior living facilities in the JV portfolio will be certified according to high environmental standards in line with Nrep’s and Åke Sundvall’s climate goals.

More information about other projects within the JV will be communicated continuously.
