Colin Throssell joins Nrep as CFO and Partner
NREP’s newest recruit strengthens the financial leadership, bringing a proven international track record in European real estate investment and finance
Leading Nordic real estate investor NREP announces the appointment of Colin Throssell as Chief Financial Officer and Partner. Based in NREP’s growing London office, Colin will oversee the business’ international financial function, whilst leveraging his extensive experience of European real estate markets to accelerate NREP’s transition to an urban investment company with the ability to manage multiple funds and products across geographies.
Colin is a seasoned industry practitioner more than 20 years’ experience. He joins NREP from Nuveen where he latterly served as Head of Real Estate, Europe, responsible for setting and driving the investment strategy across the region, managing €30 billion of assets and a team of over 200 people. Previous positions include that of Chief Financial Officer at both Nuveen and TIAA Henderson Real Estate, and he has also held various real estate banking, lending and structured finance roles at Europhypo and Erste Bank over the course of his career. Colin qualified as a Chartered Accountant with EY in 1998, following graduation from Bristol University.
Colin Throssell, CFO and Partner at NREP, said: “Having followed NREP’s growth and success with interest over recent years, I was struck by the business’ broader purpose which I now know permeates throughout its culture and is intrinsically linked to its financial performance – something that stands out as both rare and admirable within the industry. I am proud to join an organisation with strong integrity and deep-rooted values, and to have an opportunity to play a role in setting the direction for the next phase of its exciting evolution.”
Henrik Skak Bender, COO and Partner at NREP, said: “Colin’s arrival signals a bolstering of NREP’s financial function, which is essential as we become a bigger business with a broader product offering, whilst also strengthening our partnership which will benefit from his unrivalled expertise. We are excited to welcome another international recruit at this high level, which reflects our long-term strategy of launching into new markets where NREP can actively participate in enhancing the urban eco-system.”
Bo Holse Rasmussen, who has been CFO of NREP since 2018, will relocate to Luxembourg to spearhead a newly established Fund Operations function, which includes fund management of all current and new NREP funds, from inception to closure.
Colin Throssell’s appointment increases the NREP partnership to 19 and continues a trend of high-calibre hires who are attracted to the business from other globally leading companies. Colin is NREP’s fifth new Partner in just six months following the external appointments of Jens Stender, who joined as Head of Global Markets from Egon Zehnder, and Heather Mulahasani, who arrived from Goldman Sachs to explore infrastructure investment opportunities, alongside two internal promotions to the partnership. Colin joins at a pivotal period of expansion for NREP, which has added over 200 new members to its 550-strong team across eight countries over the past year.
NREP is the largest real estate investment manager in the Nordics with approximately €18 billion of assets under management. It has long pioneered sustainability in real estate, which plays a central role in its value creation strategy and has committed to being carbon neutral by 2028 without offsets. Spearheading initiatives to date include the use of CO2 neutral geothermal heating, projects such as the world’s first 100% upcycled concrete building and ‘UN17 Village’, the first large-scale project to align with all of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
