TEchnologies for a better built environment
New technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, hold an enormous potential to solve urban challenges by making real estate greener and more efficient. But for years, real estate has lacked innovation, and hardly any industry spends less resource on R&D than the construction industry.
We aim to be at the forefront of new technologies that offer a scalable, material impact on the built environment. We work with technology in two ways: We either adopt pioneering technologies in our developments and operations – or we invest in companies with new innovations. For both approaches, we seek to create a measurable, positive impact through commercially viable technologies.
Investing to accelerate the sustainable transition
2150 reflects NREP’s long-standing commitment to make the built environment greener by investing in technologies set to make cities more resilient and sustainable. This urban tech venture will focus on addressing the biggest unsolved urban problems – from the way our cities are designed, constructed and powered, to the way people live, work and are cared for.
First investment is clean-tech company CarbonCure, where 2150 invested alongside Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund and the Bill Gates-led Breakthrough Energy Ventures. Among others, 2150 is backed by Chr. Augustinus Fabrikker, Novo Holdings and Vaekstfonden, part of Denmark’s Green Future Fund, as well as several European real estate players with over 16 million of square meters under their platforms.
Examples of our engagements

CarbonCure
To combat CO2 emissions from concrete, cleantech company CarbonCure has developed an innovative technology that injects recycled CO2 into fresh concrete. The injected CO2 forms a nano-sized mineral, making concrete stronger and thus reducing the need for concrete.

Spacemaker
AI-driven technology for optimised early-stage planning of buildings and larger urban areas. Spacemaker can quickly produce a very high number of quality alternatives to design and planning challenges, enabling better decision making and sustainable outcomes. NREP was an early investor in Spacemaker, which Autodesk later acquired.

PassiveLogic
With a powerful yet nimble deep tech product, PassiveLogic brings intelligence and automation to any building regardless of size. This digital-twin technology can reduce energy usage, e.g. heating and ventilation, by 35%.

Disperse
Using computer vision AI and deep industry insights, Disperse process visual data from construction sites in combination with schedules, 2D drawings and 3D models to deliver less waste, less delays – and higher productivity.

Kodit.io
Kodit.io makes the hassle of selling or buying a private home disruptively simple. In fact, with Kodit you can go online and with a few clicks get an instant cash offer for your apartment. Behind this ibuyer’s simple front-end lies sophisticated technology combined with robust operations.
